Social value
Having a purpose and making change happen is central to what we do.
We’re a profit for purpose business
Our shareholders are Chambers of Commerce, who re-invest the profits we make into services that support local businesses, their employees, and the communities in which they operate. We aim to drive meaningful economic, environmental or cultural wealth for every project and its stakeholders and, alongside this, deliver against the Government’s Social Value Model.
Tackling economic inequality
Helping people from all backgrounds to prosper was one of our founding principles. We’re proud to be a Living Wage employer, and our services are accessible by design and continually refined with feedback from the audiences they’re aimed at. Helping policymakers understand skills gaps and barriers to employment, driving up skills, creating jobs, and growing businesses are core to the projects we deliver.
Fighting climate change
We are proud to have joined the Race to Zero by committing to the SME Climate Hub, promising to:
-
Halve our greenhouse gas emissions before 2030
-
Achieve net zero emissions before 2050
-
Disclose our progress on a yearly basis
The design of every project we deliver seeks to minimise its carbon footprint at the start and reduce this further during the delivery timeline, ensuring incremental gains are measured and reported.
Improving wellbeing
We’re a people-based business and support our team with a range of benefits and services designed to support their physical and mental wellbeing. As a flexible and agile business, we encourage our employees to be the same by offering flexible and hybrid working and understanding the importance of work/life balance.
Equal opportunity
At EMB, we want our people to be able to bring their whole selves to work, and we celebrate diversity, recognising the advantages that come from being inclusive and welcoming. Our Equal Opportunities policy is at the heart of what we do, ensuring our recruitment practices are accessible to all and that we treat everyone as an individual, tailoring their work and development to their needs as well as ours.
Community recovery
As a growing business, we aim to offer meaningful and well-paid work by creating new jobs, supporting new entrants to the job market by offering work experience and helping people develop and grow their skills via Apprenticeships. We encourage our people to support their personal causes with time and resources and donate to a company charity voted for by our people.
